CharterSills was selected to receive an Award of Excellence by the Illuminating Engineering Society as part of their 47th Annual IES Illumination Awards. The awards took place virtually in a presentation on Monday, August 24, 2020.
The Award of Excellence is awarded for an exceptional contribution to the art and science of light. CharterSills was recognized for its exemplary results from the restoration of Chicago’s Union Station Great Hall (shown in the image below).
CharterSill’s project was published along with the other winners from the 47th Annual IES Illumination Awards in the August 2020 issue of the LD+A; the magazine of IES.
In addition to receiving the Award of Excellence, the Great Hall restoration has been recognized with six other awards, including the 2019 Interior Architecture Award – American Institute of Architects, Chicago Chapter; 2019 Overall Transformation of the Year – GlobeSt Real Estate Forum Magazine; 2019 Silver Reconstruction Award – Building Design & Construction Magazine; 2019 Best Project, Government/Public Building – ENR Midwest Magazine; 2019 Best Renovation/Retrofit Project – Structural Engineers Association of Illinois; and the 2019 Metamorphosis Award, Whole Building – Retrofit Magazine.
